Bye Baby Bunting

Personally, I'm ready for Spring.  But since we're finally experiencing Winter, I guess I'd better just enjoy where I am.

This year, March is a busy month, with St. Patrick's Day, Spring Break, and Easter.  Work in the studio is looking awfully Easter-like to me.

My photographer friend Jill needed an Easter-like bunting for her Easter photo sittings.  Here's what I came up with.  I used vintage sheets and vintage bunting along with a teal polka-dot fabric from the thrift store, circa who-knows.

I'm pleased with how it turned out.  I had intended to use pinking shears and make a one-sided bunting.  However, my pinking shears went MIA and so I made a much more awesome reversible bunting.  A happy accident, I say.

Meanwhile, embroidery marches ever on.

We're also looking forward to a St. Patrick's Day potluck replete with corned beef and cabbage.  I'll keep you posted.

February Made Me Shiver

In February, we suffered illnesses:

Ellis on his 6th day of illness
 We made Valentines:

And one of us turned 5! (Bike and giant Perry are by-products of 5th birthday.)

The birthday was the highlight of the month, complete with a Perry the Platypus party featuring a Perry cake that I made and the birthday crown on its third year.  Is it wrong that in some ways, that cake is the most awesome thing I've ever made?

So, let's move on from February and look forward to March, which is already here!

The Era of Illness, Conclusion

Way has lead on to way around here.  I feel like the past two weeks are just lost to time.  Please excuse the relative silence.  We all seem healthy at this point, so it's just time to get back to it.

During the illnesses, I've started a granny square blanket for my dad, done a fair amount of sketching, embroidered quite a bit, looked at countless images of other people's art on the internet, but done very little thinking and feeling about art beyond I like this/don't like this.  It's amazing how totally absorbed I have been in simply taking care of my family.  I had so little left over for anything else.

Before the Era of Illness descended, I was working on some new ideas for the shop.

None of it's really ready for prime time yet, but I was feeling okay about how things were going.  I'll try to get more details up in the coming days.

In other shop news, I was included in my first treasury.  I was very excited and flattered.  I've been feeling a bit down about the lack of sales (and lack of inventory) in my shop, so this was a welcome boost to my confidence.  I plan to keep that confidence going.  Hold me to it, okay?

Sick Days

Sorry to be MIA.  Norovirus hit our house and I just haven't been in a very bloggy place.  So far only Sarah and Ellis have been sick.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Sickness does offer a lot of down time, though.

More Work In Progress, Pictures Not Words

So the problem with journaling on paper is that it reduces my need to journal here.  The good thing about it is that I am creating lots of new work.
